Klohn Crippen Berger

Remote

KCB is a multidisciplinary engineering, geoscience, and environmental consulting firm grounded in our values of Passion, Integrity, and Excellence. With teams across North America, South America, Australasia, and Europe, we bring together global technical knowledge, local insight, and a shared commitment to solving complex challenges that matter.

Today's challenges demand more than just technical knowledge; they require collaboration, creativity, and a deep understanding of the communities, industries, and environments that we support. At KCB, our team collaborates across regions and disciplines to bring practical thinking, technical excellence, and diverse perspectives to every project.

We are problem-solvers at heart. Our teams bring passion to complex challenges, integrity to every client relationship and excellence to the solutions we deliver for communities, industries, and future generations.

Guided by our long-term ambition of Globally Connected Excellence and our purpose of Sustaining the Future, we work alongside our clients to deliver lasting solutions that strengthen resilience and benefit future generations.

The Opportunity

We have a thriving Brisbane geoscience team made up of talented, passionate, and high-integrity professionals delivering technical excellence across mining, dams, water, and civil infrastructure projects. Drawing on a broad range of geoscience and engineering expertise, we offer the benefits of a global consultancy while maintaining the agility, flexibility, and direct access to senior leadership that larger organisations often struggle to provide.

As a Senior Hydrogeologist, you will contribute to large-scale, world-class projects that will continually challenge and expand your technical expertise. Working alongside an experienced hydrogeology team and multidisciplinary specialists, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality geoscience and engineering solutions for our clients.

This position combines technical leadership with hands-on project delivery. You will define technical approaches, oversee quality and project outcomes, mentor and develop emerging professionals, and help strengthen KCB's hydrogeology capability and market presence across Australia.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and review complex hydrogeological studies, including conceptualisation, geological and hydrogeological interpretation, and development of management strategies.
  • Provide senior technical input into assessments for dewatering, aquifer injection, contaminant hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, and groundwater management plans.
  • Lead or supervise analytical and numerical modelling for groundwater systems, including those associated with WRDs, TSFs, and major infrastructure.
  • Direct field programs (drilling, aquifer testing, sampling, mapping, contractor oversight) and ensure robust data collection and interpretation.
  • Oversee preparation of high‑quality technical deliverables, reports, and proposals.
  • Provide technical assurance and mentoring to junior and mid‑level hydrogeologists.
  • Build strong client relationships and support business development initiatives to expand KCB's project portfolio across Queensland and the broader Australian market.
  • Support project managers and collaborate with our multidisciplinary team across geoscience and engineering.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geoscience, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications in Hydrogeology will be highly regarded).
  • 10+ years of hydrogeology experience spanning field investigations, data analysis, conceptual model development, groundwater assessment, design, and reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing proposals, technical reports, and client presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead technical professionals while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Strong client relationship management skills and the ability to develop long-term, trusted partnerships.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

What We Offer

At KCB, we invest in our people and support them to thrive professionally and personally. In addition to working on technically challenging and rewarding projects, we offer:

  • Additional Superannuation: 2.5% extra to secure your future;
  • Income Protection Insurance: Peace of mind for you and your family;
  • Parental and Volunteer Leave: Support for your personal and community commitments;
  • Novated Leasing: Flexible vehicle leasing options;

  • Social and Mental Well-being Initiatives: Programs to support your overall well-being;
  • Training and Development Opportunities: Continuous growth and learning; and
  • Additional incentives may be available dependent on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a highly regarded technical team, work on challenging and impactful projects, and further develop your leadership and hydrogeological expertise within a collaborative and supportive environment.
