Veterinarian | RSPCA NSW Hunter Veterinary Hospital

At RSPCA NSW Hunter Veterinary Hospital, you'll have the opportunity to practice high-quality veterinary medicine in a close-knit team, while helping improve the lives of animals and the people who care for them.

We're looking for a compassionate and capable veterinarian to join our experienced and supportive team. Whether you're seeking a full-time role or looking for flexibility with part-time hours, we'd love to hear from you. Why join us?

At Hunter Veterinary Hospital, no two days are the same. You'll enjoy the variety of private practice medicine and surgery, while also contributing to the broader animal welfare mission of Australia's most recognised animal welfare organisation.

Our caseload is diverse, our team is collaborative, and you'll have access to support from a strong network of experienced veterinarians across the RSPCA NSW network. We believe working at the RSPCA NSW allows practitioners to develop their skills faster than in other roles. You will see cases each week that other practices see only once a year!

About The Role

As a Veterinarian with RSPCA NSW, you'll:

  • Consult with a diverse range of companion animal patients and the clients who care for them
  • Perform desexing and soft tissue surgeries
  • Deliver quality dental care and oral surgery
  • Have the opportunity to scrub in on orthopaedic surgery – or take them on yourself if you are confident!
  • Work alongside skilled veterinary nurses and support staff in a collaborative environment
  • Provide guidance to the community on animal health, behaviour and welfare matters, with opportunities to be part of our Outreach efforts in rural and remote NSW and participate in media campaigns

About You

We're seeking a veterinarian who combines sound clinical skills with a passion for animal welfare. You'll have:

  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a compassionate outlook
  • A collaborative approach and a positive team mindset
  • A commitment to delivering excellent patient care and client service
  • A genuine passion for improving animal welfare and dedication to meeting clients where they are at to provide necessary support and advice

What We Offer

  • A Supportive Team Environment
  • Attractive salary package
  • Annual CPD allowance and study leave (up to $5000 annually depending on course selected as well as one week of study leave)
  • AVA, CVE and VIN membership (saving you thousands)
  • 40% Royal Canin discount
  • Animal Compassionate Leave
  • Mental health and wellbeing support programs
  • Generous paid parental leave
  • Ongoing internal training and education opportunities
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave
  • A workplace committed to diversity, inclusion and employee wellbeing
