The Opportunity

Supporting the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the hotel, the Maintenance Handyperson plays a key role in ensuring our facilities remain safe, functional, and maintained to the highest standards. You will undertake general repairs, preventative maintenance, and respond to maintenance requests across guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and hotel facilities.

Working closely with all departments, you will apply your practical skills, attention to detail, and proactive approach to ensure a seamless environment for both guests and associates. Your ability to troubleshoot issues, priorities tasks, and maintain exceptional standards will be essential to your success in this role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Complete general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs to ensure the ongoing performance and safety of hotel assets
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and prioritize work orders effectively
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical issues
  • Assist with room inspections and ensure all facilities meet brand and safety standards
  • Maintain plant and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency
  • Liaise with external contractors and service providers when required
  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety requirements and hotel policies
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete administrative tasks as required
  • Uphold the highest standards of presentation, safety, and operational excellence throughout the hotel

Profile

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in maintenance, trades assistant, facilities, hotel maintenance, or handyperson role
  • Demonstrated experience carrying out general repairs and preventative maintenance across a variety of building systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A hands-on approach with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety practices and safe work procedures
  • Experience within a hotel, hospitality, commercial, or facilities environment is highly regarded
  • Relevant trade qualifications, licences, or certifications will be highly regarded
  • Must have full working rights in Australia
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays when required
