Role Overview The Environment Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of non-production environments within the IT landscape. This includes managing the setup, configuration, and availability of development, testing, staging, and other non-production environments to support the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Environment Setup and Configuration

Plan, design, and implement non-production environments to mirror the production environment.

Configure servers, databases, network infrastructure, and other components required for non-production environments.

Ensure consistency and accuracy of environment configurations across different stages of the software development lifecycle.

Environment Maintenance and Monitoring

Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as patching, upgrades, and performance tuning, to ensure the stability and reliability of non-production environments.

Monitor environment health and performance, proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime and disruption to development and testing activities.

Implement monitoring tools and processes to track resource utilization, identify bottlenecks, and optimize environment efficiency.

Change and Release Management

Coordinate and manage environment changes and releases in alignment with the software development and release schedule.

Facilitate the deployment of software updates, patches, and configuration changes to non-production environments, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal impact on ongoing development and testing activities.

Collaboration and Communication

Collaborate with development, testing, and operations teams to understand their requirements and ensure that non-production environments meet their needs.

Communicate with stakeholders regarding environment status, planned maintenance activities, and any issues or risks that may impact development and testing timelines.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate documentation of non-production environment configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.

Generate regular reports on environment performance, availability, and utilization, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
