Carmichael produces more than 12 million tonnes of thermal coal for the export market each year.

More than 1400 people are engaged in permanent roles at Carmichael and workers travel to site on direct flights from Townsville, Rockhampton, Cairns, or Mackay (a flight time of approximately 55 minutes).
