ABOUT THE ROLE

A rare opportunity has arisen within the planning team at Bass Coast Shire Council as we seek a Planning professional to take on the important role of Planning Enforcement Officer across the Shire.

As a Planning Enforcement Officer, you will undertake enforcement investigations of planning matters across Bass Coast for which the Shire Council has responsibility.You will conduct routine monitoring of land use and development and respond to feedback from the community of suspected Planning Scheme non-compliances.

You will prepare reports on planning enforcement matters, permit applications and prosecution briefs and record and prepare information of sufficient standard to support enforcement matters through to legal proceedings.

A BIT ABOUT YOU

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in town planning, compliance and enforcement, investigations, law, environmental science or a related discipline, or lesser formal qualifications together with substantial experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in a planning compliance, enforcement, investigations, statutory planning, local laws, building compliance or a similar regulatory environment, including knowledge of Victorian planning legislation and VCAT processes.
  • Strong research, analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and apply industry knowledge to support compliance, community engagement and policy development.
  • Experience with TechnologyOne (OneCouncil) would be highly regarded. Applicants must hold a current Victorian Driver Licence and be eligible for membership of the Planning Enforcement Officer Association of Victoria.
