The role
Are you looking to step off the tools into a leadership and planning role? Use your trade background to coordinate maintenance across Council's diverse range of public infrastructure.
As our Maintenance Planner / Estimator, you'll be the go-to person for planning and coordinating operational, maintenance and renewal programs across our facilities portfolio. This includes everything from buildings and aquatic facilities to community halls and aerodromes. Your skills will ensure that our facilities are fit for purpose, safe and ready for use by the community.
You will work closely with the Facilities Coordinator and various stakeholders, helping to develop and manage asset renewal programs while keeping a keen eye on compliance and contractor performance. No two days will be the same as there is plenty of variety in this role.
What we are looking for
We're on the lookout for someone who has a genuine passion for facility management and a knack for problem-solving. If you have experience in building maintenance or asset management and are ready to take your career to the next level, we would like to hear from you.
You will have:
- Demonstrated experience in construction and trade supervision with a proven ability to coordinate competing maintenance priorities across multiple sites
- Strong contractor management skills, including monitoring performance, compliance and cost control
- Working knowledge of building maintenance practices, including statutory compliance relevant to public buildings in Queensland
- A demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and escalate high-risk or strategic issues appropriately
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications, in particular Word, Outlook and Excel, as well as other software relevant to the position
A Queensland Construction Industry White Card (or National equivalent) and a current Queensland C class driver’s licence are essential for this role. If you have additional qualifications in relevant fields or experience with local government asset management frameworks, that's a bonus.
You will be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or have unrestricted work rights in Australia. You must be able to provide evidence that you can legally work in Australia upon request. Mareeba Shire Council does not offer employer visa sponsorship.
