THE ROLE
Joining our Facilities team and working across our central Sydney Scape portfolio, you’ll help keep the best purpose-built student accommodation in Australia running safely and smoothly. Electricians are responsible for the fault diagnosis, repair & replacement of electrical components and systems across our properties, working closely with Facilities Managers to ensure residents enjoy a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained place to live.
Key areas of responsibility for the successful candidate will include:
- Performing routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on electrical equipment and systems (lighting, power distribution, control systems etc.) to prevent unplanned breakdowns
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment, and repairing or replacing faulty wiring, switches, circuit breakers, general power outlets and light fittings
- Installing, testing and commissioning new equipment or system upgrades during capital works or facility modifications, ensuring all work meets AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and relevant state regulations
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records, inspection logs and up-to-date wiring diagrams
- Liaising and coordinating with Facilities Managers and other maintenance trades to schedule work and minimise disruption to residents
- Participating in a 7-day on-call roster, responding promptly to emergency breakdowns and urgent repairs outside normal working hours
- Identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency and recommending upgrades, repairs or fixture replacements where appropriate
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are seeking a hands-on, safety-conscious tradesperson who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a supportive, fast-paced team.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- A current, government-issued Electrical Licence (specific requirements vary by state/territory)
- Experience providing electrical services, and using and maintaining power tools and equipment
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution (single and three-phase) and control systems
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, as-builts and technical manuals
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work unsupervised and follow directions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across teams
- Additional certifications for high-risk work, working at heights, or confined spaces are advantageous
- A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain) and valid driver's licence
