Microsoft Power Platform Architect

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Power Platform Architect to own the design, governance, and scaled adoption of Microsoft's low-code and agentic AI ecosystem. This is a hands-on architecture role spanning Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and Copilot Studio, focused on setting technical direction and then staying close enough to delivery to prove it works in production.

Working alongside enterprise architecture, delivery teams, and business stakeholders, you will translate business problems, regulatory constraints, and platform economics into a coherent target-state architecture. You will resolve the low-code versus pro-code boundary, design the integration patterns that connect the platform to Azure and line-of-business systems, and establish the guardrails that let makers move quickly without creating unmanaged application sprawl.

This role operates in a Forward Deployed model. You will work embedded alongside customers and end users—on-site or virtually—architecting, shipping, and iterating on solutions directly in their environment. Rather than producing reference architecture that sits on a shelf, you stay close to the problem, deploy quickly, gather real-world feedback, and refine the design in production until it delivers measurable value.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

• Define and evolve the target-state architecture for Power Platform and Copilot Studio, including environment strategy, tenant topology, Dataverse data modeling, and solution layering.
• Determine and document where low-code ends and pro-code begins, including when to extend the platform with Azure Functions, plug-ins, or PCF components.
• Author reference architectures, design patterns, and architecture decision records; take designs through architecture governance forums.

Agentic AI & Copilot Studio

• Design agentic AI solutions using Copilot Studio, including agent design, multi-agent orchestration, knowledge grounding and retrieval patterns, and human-in-the-loop workflow automation.
• Translate emerging Microsoft AI capabilities into tangible, defensible business value, and advise honestly on where the technology is not yet fit for purpose.

Governance & Platform Operations

• Establish and run a Power Platform covering environment provisioning, DLP policies, connector governance, licensing strategy, and application lifecycle management.
• Design the security and compliance model, spanning data residency, Microsoft Purview classification, conditional access, and alignment to the Essential Eight.
• Define the ALM pipeline—source control, managed solutions, and automated deployment through Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Establish platform monitoring, cost management, and the pathway for promoting successful citizen-developed applications into supported production assets.

Integration & Delivery

• Design integration architecture across Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and third-party systems using connectors, REST APIs, custom connector patterns, and event-driven designs.
• Support solution testing, validation, deployment, and knowledge transfer to operations and support teams.
• Produce technical documentation, design artefacts, and operational runbooks aligned with Microsoft recommended practices.

Enablement & Stakeholder Leadership

• Run maker enablement programs and mentor developers and junior architects.
• Advise senior business and IT stakeholders on adoption roadmaps and investment cases, grounding recommendations in measurable outcomes rather than platform capability.

Who You Are

• Builder who stays current. You ship. You have things in production, in open source, or in personal projects that prove it. You follow the frontier closely, try new tools as they launch, and have strong opinions on what's actually useful versus hype.
• Architect who still writes solutions. You can whiteboard a tenant strategy in the morning and debug a misbehaving flow in the afternoon, and you believe the second makes the first better.
• You've designed and deployed AI agents into production, where they did real work for real users.
• You've worked in a customer-facing role before, and you're comfortable defending a design decision to a room that disagrees with it.

Required Experience

• Minimum 8 years in solution or technical architecture, including at least 4 years focused on Microsoft Power Platform in enterprise or consulting environments.
• Deep hands-on capability across Power Apps (canvas and model-driven), Power Automate, Dataverse, and the Power Platform admin centre.
• Demonstrated experience designing and shipping production-grade Copilot Studio agents, with a working understanding of the agentic AI paradigm.
• Proven experience establishing a low-code Centre of Excellence or equivalent governance framework at scale, including security, compliance, ALM, and platform operating models.
• Strong integration background across Azure services, REST APIs, and identity and authentication (Microsoft Entra ID).
• Applied ALM and DevOps discipline to low-code delivery, including source control and automated deployment pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a regulated environment.

Highly Regarded

• Dynamics 365 experience, particularly Customer Service or Field Service.
• Azure AI Foundry, retrieval-augmented generation design, or broader machine learning and NLP exposure.
• Certifications: PL-600, PL-400, AZ-305, or MB-280.
