The Role
Based at our Leppington office, the Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and compliance of our financial records across ANZ. You will report directly to the Finance Manager – ANZ, mentor an Assistant Accountant, and take ownership of key accounting processes across the region.
This role is hands on, detail driven, and essential to maintaining strong financial governance as our global business continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will draw on your financial astuteness and meticulous approach to process and review ledger transactions, ensuring the accuracy, integrity and compliance of all accounting records. You will reconcile balance sheet control accounts and take full ownership of all reconciliations, including reviewing the Assistant Accountant’s work with the organised, detail‑driven mindset required in a multi‑ledger environment.
A key part of the role involves reviewing profit & loss and balance sheet accounts across all general ledgers to ensure correct classification of entries and to provide clear explanations for key variances. You will also support the production and finalisation of monthly P&L and balance sheet reporting for allocated ledgers and prepare and submit monthly financial data to the Group Reporting team, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
You will assist with statutory reporting requirements including half‑year, year‑end and local subsidiary deadlines, and manage, prepare and complete ANZ compliance and tax returns in collaboration with internal and external tax teams. The role also requires you to apply your adaptable mindset to lead process‑improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and reduce staff‑related costs through smarter workflows and automation. You will also rely on your strong communication skills to liaise with the wider finance function and other departments, ensuring clear, timely and effective collaboration.
Additionally, you will provide ad hoc accounting support to enhance the Finance team’s overall efficiency and effectiveness.
