About the role

We’re looking for a Workforce Management Advisor to support the effective use of Dayforce scheduling, rostering, time and attendance, and timesheet management processes across Sydney Water.

This role will partner closely with Planners, Schedulers, People Leaders, Payroll, P&C, and HR Systems teams to strengthen payroll readiness, workforce compliance, and employee experience by ensuring workforce management practices are accurate, consistent, and aligned to business requirements.

This is an opportunity to build leader capability, improve scheduling and timesheet practices, and support continuous improvement in payroll accuracy, compliance, and workforce management across Sydney Water.

Trusted Advisor for Workforce Management and Payroll Readiness

  • Act as the primary point of contact for Planners, Schedulers and People Leaders on Dayforce scheduling, timesheets, leave, overtime, allowances, callouts, and payroll readiness.

  • Provide practical advice and real-time support to resolve issues before they impact payroll outcomes.

  • Proactively identify risks, exceptions, and recurring issues that may affect payroll accuracy, compliance, or employee experience.

Build Workforce Management Capability

  • Coach and support leaders to confidently manage schedules, timesheets, approvals, and payroll-related processes.

  • Solid understanding of Sydney Water Enterprise Agreement, workforce management related policies and business rules to guide leaders in its application.

  • Deliver targeted training, drop-in support sessions, payroll readiness reviews, and practical tools to build capability across the business.

  • Help embed consistent scheduling, rostering and time and attendance practices, shifting teams from reactive issue resolution to proactive payroll readiness and workforce management discipline.

Improve Workforce Governance, Compliance and Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Payroll, P&C, HR Systems, Workforce Management, and operational teams to resolve systemic issues and strengthen scheduling and timesheet practices.
  • Analyse trends, exceptions, and recurring enquiries to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement through reporting, governance, knowledge management, and process optimisation to enhance payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational effectiveness.

About You

You bring experience from a large, complex organisation, ideally within workforce management, rostering, scheduling, payroll operations, HR operations, shared services, workforce systems, or time and attendance. You understand how accurate schedules, timesheets, approvals and exception management contribute to payroll readiness, workforce compliance and a positive employee experience.

To be successful, you will have:

  • A degree in Business, Human Resources, Employment Relations or equivalent experience in workforce management, rostering, scheduling, payroll operations, HR operations, workforce systems, or time and attendance.

  • Experience working with ERP, HRIS, time and attendance, or cloud-based workforce management systems such as Dayforce, SAP, Workday, SuccessFactors, or similar platforms.

  • Strong understanding of scheduling, timesheet management, payroll processes, workforce compliance, and Enterprise Agreement interpretation.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong analytical capability, attention to detail, organisational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
