Cook Shire Council is looking for two enthusiastic and hardworking Labourers to join the team at the beautiful Cooktown Botanic Gardens!

Permanent Full-Time Labourer

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a long-term role working outdoors as part of a friendly and dedicated team.

Seasonal Labourer – until 30 June 2027

This position will provide additional support as the wet season approaches, when increased rainfall and rapid vegetation growth create a higher level of garden maintenance.

What we’re looking for

We’re Looking For Someone Who

  • Has experience in general maintenance or similar outdoor work
  • Has experience operating equipment such as zero-turn mowers, whipper snippers and utility vehicles
  • Has a strong work ethic and reliable attendance
  • Can work independently while also being a positive and effective team member
  • Takes initiative and is self-motivated
  • Has good communication skills and takes pride in providing quality work
  • Has a strong commitment to workplace health and safety

You Will Need

  • A current Queensland Class C driver’s licence (manual desirable)
  • A current Construction White Card

Horticultural knowledge and experience will be highly regarded.

Training will be provided where required, so if you have the right attitude, a willingness to learn and enjoy working outdoors, we’d love to hear from you!
