Te Haeata/The Opportunity
As a National Scheduler, you will be responsible for preparing and managing national rosters that support the delivery of legal aid services. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring people can access justice when they need it.
Working closely with lawyers, courts, police, Legal Aid Services, Duty Lawyer Supervisors, and Ministry staff, you'll coordinate and maintain rosters, respond to operational changes, analyse scheduling data, and ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time.
This is a fast-paced role requiring exceptional organisation, sound judgement, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to adapt quickly when priorities change.
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing and maintaining national rosters.
- Coordinating roster changes and responding to operational requirements in real time.
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders both over the phone and via email to ensure effective roster management.
- Analysing data and identifying trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintaining accurate roster information.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to team success.
- Building strong working relationships across the Ministry and justice sector partners.
You'll Bring
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confidence using spreadsheets and databases, particularly Excel.
- The ability to analyse information, identify issues, and make sound decisions.
- Excellent relationship management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication with the confidence to proactively engage stakeholders by phone and email to resolve issues and follow up on enquiries.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
- Resilience, flexibility, and a solutions-focused approach.
- Experience working within environments governed by policies, procedures, or legislation.
Knowledge of the criminal justice sector or legal processes would be advantageous but is not essential.

Utu ā-tau/ Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $67,066 and $85,567 based on skills and experience.
