Production Planner

Our client is a well-established business within the steel manufacturing sector, specialising in reinforcement materials and rebar production, seeking an experienced Production Planner to optimise scheduling and drive operational performance.

This is a critical role focused on maximising machine utilisation, improving throughput, and ensuring on-time delivery across a fast-paced production environment.

The Opportunity

Working closely with production, logistics, suppliers, and customers, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining realistic, efficient production schedules using ASA.

Operating within a rebar and reinforcement manufacturing environment, you will play a key role in ensuring stable production flow, minimising bottlenecks, and aligning output with customer demand.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain optimised production schedules
• Balance customer deadlines with factory capacity
• Create forward production plans (weekly, monthly, project-based)
• Monitor and adjust schedules in real time to address constraints
• Sequence production to maximise machine utilisation and reduce changeovers
• Identify bottlenecks and improve factory throughput
• Work closely with supervisors to maintain continuous production flow
• Maintain accurate production data within ASA
• Communicate scheduling updates and delivery expectations to customers

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in a Production Planner / Scheduler role
• Experience within manufacturing environments (steel, rebar, construction materials or similar highly regarded)
• Strong understanding of production workflows and capacity planning
• Experience using ERP systems (ASA highly regarded)
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong stakeholder communication skills
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
