About the role

This position is responsible for co-ordinating a culturally safe, family-centred intake function for Ovens Murray VACCA Family Services. The role will oversee all referrals coming into the Family Services program area and manage VACCA’s key partnerships with referral agencies, including internal programs and external agencies.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’s vision and purpose.
  • Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the relevant legislation, policies, practice frameworks and requirements relevant to the effective operation of the programs and services.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively with other agencies to support families to navigate and access support services.

Desirable

  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a client-facing role in the family services sector.
  • Experience working directly or indirectly with intake functions and processes.
  • Experience working in Aboriginal organisations and with Aboriginal communities.
  • Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology and/or Child and Family Welfare or an equivalent related to community services or willingness to obtain.

Requirements

  • Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
