Specialist Family Violence Practitioner - The Orange Door

Why this role matters

The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.

About the role

As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner within The Orange Door Program, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality, trauma-informed support to women, children and families affected by family violence. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will undertake risk assessments, deliver specialist interventions, and collaborate with partner services to promote safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to an integrated service model while maintaining a strong focus on perpetrator accountability and empowering vulnerable communities.

Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a fixed-term full-time position, contracted for 12 months, based on-site in Hastings, VIC.

Conditions

Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 6.

How you will make an impact

• Deliver screening, triage, assessment, crisis response, service planning and targeted interventions to support clients experiencing family violence
• Conduct risk assessments and identify the needs of women, children, families and perpetrators, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Facilitate referrals and access to appropriate services, including coordinating allocations, brokerage support and Central Information Point (CIP) requests where required
• Maintain accurate and timely client records within the Orange Door Client Relationship Management (CRM) system and contribute to effective case management
• Participate in ongoing professional development, training and practice initiatives to strengthen service delivery within the Orange Door Hub environment

What you will bring

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Science or related field (essential)
• Meet the Mandatory Minimum Qualifications (MMQ) requirements for Specialist Family Violence Practitioners - https://www.vic.gov.au/mandatory-minimum-qualifications-specialist-family-violence-practitioners
• Experience working in the family violence sector (desirable)
• Demonstrated knowledge of Family and Domestic Violence including context, principles, philosophies, policies, regulations, and legislation
• Ability to understand and apply Family and Domestic Violence models, approaches, theories, and practices when dealing with clients
• A current and valid Employee Working with Children Check
• A current Victorian Driver's Licence
