The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an Intermediate Estimator looking to broaden their experience across both Sales and Production Estimating. Working as part of a large, experienced estimating team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate site costs, variations, tenders and production orders while working closely with suppliers, supervisors and internal stakeholders. Candidates with experience in either Sales or Production Estimating who are eager to learn the other side of the business are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities Include
- Preparing sales estimates including site costs, variations and tender pricing
- Completing production estimating and preparing orders for construction
- Reviewing architectural and engineering drawings and specifications
- Preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and take-offs
- Liaising with architects, engineers, construction supervisors, contractors and suppliers
- Obtaining and reviewing supplier quotations
- Managing supplier allocations based on pricing, quality and capacity
- Preparing margin reports and identifying pricing variances
- Maintaining estimating databases, assemblies and price files to ensure pricing accuracy
- Completing on-site measures and quantity take-offs where required
- Assisting with supplier negotiations and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Responding to estimating queries from internal stakeholders in a timely manner
- Ensuring all estimates comply with relevant Australian Standards, NCC requirements and company specifications
About You
You will be an Estimator with a minimum of 2-3 years' experience working within the volume home building industry. You may come from either a Sales Estimating or Production Estimating background and be looking to expand your knowledge across both disciplines.
To Be Successful, You Will Possess
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience as an Estimator within a volume home builder
- Experience in either Sales Estimating or Production Estimating, with a willingness to learn both disciplines
- Ability to read and interpret residential building plans, specifications and tender documentation
- Strong mathematical ability and excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Certificate IV in Building & Construction or similar qualifications will be highly regarded but are not essential
- A proactive attitude with a genuine desire to learn and develop your estimating career
