Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA) is seeking a motivated and proactive WHS Advisor to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Avalon, Victoria and our Melbourne CBD office, playing a key role in driving health, safety and wellbeing outcomes across the organisation.

As a trusted safety professional, you will partner with leaders and employees to ensure a safe and healthy workplace, support compliance with legislative requirements, and foster a culture where safety is embedded in everything we do.

About the Role

Reporting to the WHS Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of HDA's Work Health and Safety systems, policies and programs.

You will provide practical advice and guidance across a diverse operational environment, supporting both manufacturing and corporate teams while contributing to the organisation's commitment to best-practice health and safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, implementation and maintenance of WHS policies, procedures and management systems in line with legislative requirements and industry best practice.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments, identifying hazards and recommending effective controls.
• Provide expert advice and support to managers and employees regarding safe work practices, emergency preparedness and PPE requirements.
• Facilitate WHS training, inductions and awareness programs across the business.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and hazards, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective and preventative actions.
• Monitor and support compliance with relevant WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice and ISO 45001 requirements.
• Collaborate with leaders to drive continuous improvement initiatives and monitor WHS performance metrics.
• Assist in the review and maintenance of emergency response, evacuation and business continuity plans.
• Engage with employees and key stakeholders to promote a positive, proactive safety culture.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, industry bodies and external consultants as required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a similar WHS position, ideally within a manufacturing, assembly, engineering or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice and ISO 45001 standards.
• Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or higher) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and WHS reporting and record management systems.
