The opportunity

As the Team Leader Arboriculture, you'll play a key leadership role in delivering Council's tree maintenance and tree establishment programs in line with the Urban Forest Strategy. Leading a skilled arboriculture team and managing external contractors, you'll provide technical expertise, oversee safe and efficient operations, support community outcomes, and help maintain a healthy, resilient urban forest across streets and parks.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and supervise arboriculture staff, allocating work and driving team performance
  • Manage tree maintenance contracts, ensuring quality, safety and service delivery outcomes
  • Support implementation of the Urban Forest Strategy and arboricultural programs
  • Provide expert advice on tree management, risk assessment and maintenance priorities
  • Monitor budgets, customer enquiries, compliance requirements and operational performance

What You'll Need To Succeed

  • Diploma in Arboriculture (or equivalent) with a minimum Level V Arborist qualification
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing arboriculture teams
  • Strong contract management and procurement experience within tree maintenance services
  • Extensive knowledge of tree management, risk assessment and arboricultural practices
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, budgeting and organisational skills

Pre-Employment Requirements

Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check & a Working With Children Check (WWCC) . Candidates must also hold a valid Victorian Driver's License.
