The Team
The People Branch delivers strategic and operational human resources services across the AEC, supporting employees, managers and business areas through expert advice, proactive support and workforce solutions. The branch is responsible for a broad range of functions, including workforce planning and analysis, recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, and work health and safety.
The Attraction and Recruitment Section plays a key role in helping the AEC attract, recruit and retain a capable and diverse workforce. The team partners with business areas to deliver end-to-end recruitment services and support the agency in meeting its operational objectives.
The team provides expert advice, manages recruitment processes, promotes best practice, and works to ensure a positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
The Opportunity
The Senior Recruitment Advisor reports to the Assistant Director and supports the delivery of recruitment and onboarding services within the Attraction & Recruitment section within People Branch.
The role provides operational leadership to the recruitment team and supports the delivery of key projects and contributes to the achievement of business objectives. The Senior Recruitment Advisor is responsible for managing and coordinating team workflows, allocating work, managing competing priorities and ensuring requests and queries are addressed in a timely manner. The role also provides escalation support for complex and sensitive matters, in addition to contributing to the development of recruitment and onboarding frameworks, processes and artefacts.
The role undertakes complex work, under limited direction and exercises sound judgement in applying relevant policies and procedures. The Senior Recruitment Advisor maintains a strong understanding of recruitment and onboarding frameworks and provides specialist advice to stakeholders while supporting effective management and development of the team.
To excel you’ll have:
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering recruitment and onboarding activities.
- Ability to set priorities, manage competing demands and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes and allocated resources.
- Experience communicating effectively and building productive stakeholder relationships while anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network.
- Proven analytical skills, including the ability to identify opportunities for improvement, facilitate change and contribute to business improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff, build capability, support career development, and foster a professional and collaborative team culture.
- Sound judgement and personal integrity when achieving results within legislative, policy and procedural frameworks.
Desirable
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in management, business, public administration or similar.
- Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice, AEC Enterprise Agreement, and the Public Service Act 1999.
Additional Responsibilities during an Electoral Event
- Manage the increased volume of requests for advice and matters, along with the urgency to resolve matters, prior to and during the delivery of an electoral event.
- Working in conjunction with the People Branch to ensure a streamlined approach and providing additional support, as required, throughout the event delivery period.
