The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Microsoft 365 Administrator to join our Technology Hub and support the secure, consistent and effective management of Microsoft 365 services across Climate Friendly. This role is central to ensuring our digital workplace platforms are well governed, reliable and set up to support our people as we continue to grow.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Service Delivery Manager, the Microsoft 365 Administrator plays a key role in keeping Climate Friendly’s Microsoft 365 environment secure, reliable and well governed. You will provide senior-level administration, Tier 3 support, escalation management and continuous improvement across core Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Entra ID, Purview and related security and compliance services.
You will help ensure our Microsoft 365 services are managed consistently, with the right controls, documentation, lifecycle processes and service management practices in place. Working closely with internal teams, Security Operations, our Microsoft CSP partner and Microsoft support, you will resolve complex issues, improve platform performance and provide practical guidance on Microsoft 365 usage, governance and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer core Microsoft 365 workloads, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 Groups and related collaboration services.
- Provide Tier 3 support for complex Microsoft 365 incidents, requests and escalations, including escalation to the Microsoft CSP partner or Microsoft support where required.
- Administer Entra ID identity lifecycle and access controls, including users, groups, roles, MFA, Conditional Access, RBAC, Privileged Identity Management and governed access across Microsoft 365 services.
- Administer Microsoft Purview capabilities, including retention policies, sensitivity labels, DLP, eDiscovery support and information protection controls.
- Support Microsoft Defender, Microsoft 365 security operations and Copilot readiness, including enablement, access governance, permission hygiene and operational controls.
- Manage Microsoft 365 licence assignment processes, including group-based licensing and ensuring users are not assigned licences directly outside approved processes.
- Maintain platform documentation, operational procedures, support guides and runbooks.
- Monitor Microsoft 365 service health, platform changes, message centre updates and operational risks.
- Support Microsoft 365 change, incident, problem and request management processes.
- Drive continuous improvement across administration, governance, automation, support processes and user experience.
- Provide guidance to internal teams on Microsoft 365 platform usage, governance and operational standards.
- Escalate architecture, security strategy and major design decisions to the appropriate technical authority.
About You
- 5+ years’ experience administering Microsoft 365 services in a business or enterprise environment.
- Strong administration experience across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and Microsoft 365 Groups.
- Strong understanding of Entra ID, identity lifecycle management, RBAC, MFA, Conditional Access concepts and privileged access management.
- Experience administering Microsoft Purview capabilities including retention, sensitivity labels, DLP, eDiscovery and information protection.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 security controls, Defender capabilities, audit logs and compliance-related operational processes.
- Experience providing senior-level technical support, troubleshooting and escalation management.
- Strong understanding of ITSM processes including incident, request, change and problem management.
- Ability to maintain clear documentation, runbooks, procedures and operational controls.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills and the ability to work with internal teams and external support partners.
- Ability to identify improvement opportunities and improve Microsoft 365 service reliability, governance and user experience.
Desirable
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert or equivalent experience.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Experience with PowerShell for Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams and Entra ID administration.
- Exposure to Microsoft 365 Copilot governance, readiness, adoption and operational controls.
- Experience with group-based licensing and Microsoft 365 licence governance.
- Experience working in a co-managed support model with a Microsoft CSP or managed service provider.
- Exposure to automation, reporting and operational dashboards for Microsoft 365 services.
