Rapid Group Co-operative Ltd is the organisation behind the RapidClean network, a highly successful cooperative comprising more than 70 independently owned businesses across Australia and New Zealand. Since 1985, the Group has delivered purchasing power, supplier partnerships and commercial value to its members, facilitating more than $80 million in annual purchases through its preferred supplier network.

Following the planned retirement of the incumbent after a successful tenure, the Board is seeking an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to lead the organisation from its head office in Penrith, Western Sydney. This represents an opportunity to join a financially sound organisation with a strong market position and clear growth strategy.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Board of Directors, this is a broad executive leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day management and ongoing development of the Cooperative.

Working closely with members, suppliers and key stakeholders, you will drive commercial performance, strengthen supplier partnerships, expand key account opportunities and maximise the value delivered to members. Equally important will be your ability to build trusted relationships, lead a high performing team and identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across all aspects of the Cooperative's operations.
• Build strong relationships with members throughout Australia and New Zealand.
• Develop and strengthen strategic supplier partnerships.
• Lead the continued growth of the Key Account Management Program.
• Drive commercial initiatives that increase member value and financial performance.
• Oversee budgeting, financial management and Board reporting.
• Champion operational excellence, continuous improvement and business systems optimisation.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable and member-focused culture.

About You

You are an experienced commercial leader who combines sound business judgement with a practical, hands-on leadership style.

Your background is likely to include:

• Success in a senior leadership role such as General Manager, Chief Operating Officer, Commercial Manager, CEO or similar.
• Strong commercial and financial management capability.
• Demonstrated success negotiating agreements and developing strategic partnerships.
• Outstanding relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience leading business improvement and operational change initiatives.
• Exposure to wholesale distribution, industrial products, FMCG, facilities management or a related sector.
• Experience within a cooperative, buying group, franchise or member-based organisation will be viewed favourably.
• Business systems and ERP experience is highly regarded.
