Icon Cancer Centre is seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist to join our Cairns team as a Senior Radiation Therapist. Working across Icon Cancer Centre Cairns and Icon Cancer Centre Liz Plummer, you will combine hands-on planning and treatment with clinical leadership, mentoring and operational support to the Clinical Lead and Charge Radiation Therapists.

With exposure to both public and private radiation oncology environments, a diverse clinical case mix and advanced radiotherapy techniques, this role offers an outstanding opportunity to expand your expertise and contribute to the continued development of cancer care in Far North Queensland.

To support your move, the eligible successful candidate will receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus and a $5,000 relocation allowance.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, safe and patient-centred radiation therapy planning and treatment in accordance with Radiation Oncologist prescriptions and relevant clinical, safety and quality standards.
• Support the Clinical Lead and Charge Radiation Therapists with the day-to-day operational management and coordination of planning and treatment services.
• Act as a senior technical resource, providing clinical guidance, problem-solving support and leadership to the radiation therapy team.
• Undertake planning and plan checking across a range of radiotherapy techniques and contribute to the implementation and optimisation of advanced treatment techniques.
• Promote continuous improvement in clinical practice, departmental protocols, workflow efficiency, quality and the patient experience.
• Collaborate effectively with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, nursing, administration and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Support the orientation, education, competency development and mentoring of radiation therapists, new graduates, and students

What you will bring to the team

• Current AHPRA registration as a Radiation Therapist.
• A minimum of three years’ post-qualification radiation therapy experience.
• Demonstrated high-level experience in radiation therapy planning and treatment delivery, together with the capacity to broaden your skills across additional techniques.
• Experience in radiotherapy plan checking, or demonstrated readiness and capability to further develop this skill.
• Experience in the planning and delivery of stereotactic radiotherapy is desirable, however, applicants with strong foundational skills and a commitment to developing in this area are encouraged to apply.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership, mentoring, education or team-development capability.
• A strong commitment to safe, high-quality radiation therapy services and exceptional patient care.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop trusted relationships with patients, colleagues and internal and external stakeholders.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as a positive member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience within private healthcare is advantageous but not essential. Applicants with public-sector experience and the ability to adapt across different service delivery models are strongly encouraged to apply.
