Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking passionate Learning Support Assistants to provide individualised learning support to students aged 3 to Year 12 who present with academic, sensory, behavioural, social, or emotional needs.

The positions will be ongoing commencing Term 1, 2027 with the option of full-time or part-time.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small‑group support to students with diverse learning needs to access the curriculum and assessments.
  • Implement adjustments, accommodations, and intervention strategies as outlined in the student’s ILP or IBP and as directed by teachers or specialists.
  • Prepare learning materials, resources, and visual supports to enhance student understanding.
  • Support classroom routines, transitions, and organisation to maintain a calm and structured environment.
  • Assist students with emotional or behavioural challenges using positive behaviour support strategies following a behaviour support plan and ILP.
  • Work closely with teachers, Student Services team members, allied health professionals, and Heads of School to support individual learning plans (ILPs).
  • Provide clear, respectful communication regarding student progress, challenges, and observations as per documentation practice and requirements of the College.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning, and reflective practice.

Skills and Experience

  • Certificate III or IV in Education Support (or working toward/willing to undertake), and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting students or young people with additional needs in educational or community settings.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting diverse learners.
  • Sound ability to assist students with additional needs including, literacy, attention and behavioural needs.
  • Communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents.
