The Manager (Health Group) provides high-level leadership and operational oversight within the Health Executive portfolio. The role is responsible for managing complex portfolio functions and supporting the delivery of strategic and operational priorities through sound judgement, initiative, and influence.

In this newly created position, you will work closely with senior leaders to translate strategy into operational delivery, ensuring effective coordination of initiatives and enabling informed executive decision-making through high-quality analysis, reporting, and advice. Acting as the standing deputy to the Group Executive Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the portfolio.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate key portfolio initiatives, including strategic and operational analysis, project leadership, complex problem solving, and preparation of high-level briefings, reports, and papers for senior executives.
  • Provide executive and operational support to the Health Executive leadership team, including coordinating actions, supporting decision-making processes, and representing the portfolio where required.
  • Lead and support professional staff within group services, including setting priorities, managing workload, supporting development, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve business processes, systems, and controls to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality operations.
  • Translate portfolio strategy into operational plans and oversee implementation across relevant functions and stakeholders.
  • Oversee non-research grants management, including funding agreements, government submissions, milestone tracking, reporting, acquittals, governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Oversee contract management across the portfolio, including monitoring obligations, supporting negotiations, resolving issues, and ensuring effective performance and compliance.

About you

You are an experienced leader with strong operational and strategic capability, ideally with a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field. You bring extensive experience in managing complex portfolios, delivering projects, and working in high-level executive environments.

You are confident preparing high-quality briefings and reports, managing competing priorities, and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You are also skilled in leading teams, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring effective governance and compliance across operational functions.

This is a continuing, full-time position based at the Griffith University Gold Coast.

As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range

The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 9 range $137,165 - $142,070 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $160,483 - $166,222 per annum.
