One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Cyber Security Architect – EL1

  1. Contract Duration: 04 Years (03 Years initially + 12 Months extension)
  2. Work Location: Canberra (Hybrid – 03 Days Office / 02 Days home each week)
  3. Eligibility: Must need to be Australian Citizen (Baseline or above Clearance is preferred)
  4. Tentative Start Date: 2nd Nov 2026
  5. Working Hours: 7.5 hours a day/ 38 hours a week

Role Description

Security Architects design, review, test and assure the technical environment, solution designs and solution implementations in accordance with current and emerging security best practice. They contribute to the technical architecture and security policies and practices.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Services, delivered in collaboration with and under supervision by nominated Department personnel, include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design optimal security solutions for large and complex transformation programs.
  • Provide guidance to project teams and system owners to achieve necessary endorsement and approvals.
  • Produce security architecture documentation, including supporting approvals through technical governance forums.
  • Provide expert cyber technical security advice to other Department business units.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders including other teams, peers and colleagues across Department and other organisations.
  • Ensure that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, communicate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services.

As part of the Services, the Specified personnel must:

  • Maintains currency in information technology processes and technical knowledge through ongoing professional development.
  • Establishes and maintains effective business relationships and professional networks.
  • Contributes to and implements improved ICT practices and procedures.
  • Provides mentoring, coaching and training.
  • Works effectively in a small team environment, and wider Command environment.
  • Remains accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, shares own expertise with others and guides and mentors less experienced client employees; and
  • Records and maintains files/information in accordance with client requirements.

Technical skills

Technical skills candidates would need to have (including but not limited to) are listed below:

  • Enterprise security architecture and secure-by-design.
  • Network security architecture.
  • Cloud and hybrid security architecture.
  • Security monitoring and observability architecture.
  • Security assurance, risk and compliance architecture.
