Key Activities

  • Create new or revise product designs for the designated product category aligned with CR's product strategy, or in response to existing product issues according to CR and industry standards
  • Conduct peer reviews of other engineers' designs to ensure that they are completed using sound engineering practice
  • Apply the applicable controls identified to reduce risk to the design
  • Ensure that all technical designs and solutions are provided in a manner that allows efficient manufacturing
  • Work efficiently as part of a team
  • Plan and conduct professional engineering work without detailed supervision, but with guidance from the senior engineering team
  • Exercise individual judgement and initiative in the application of engineering principles, techniques and methods
  • Take part in root cause investigations into CR product related issues to gain a further understanding of the products
  • Support other departments in CR with the provision of technical information relating to CR products as guided by other senior members of the engineering team
  • Attend client or supplier sites to assess and/or support CR products throughout their life cycle
  • Prototype, trial or simulate proposed product designs with guidance to verify that they achieve the requirements detailed
  • Prepare engineering reports, designs, drawings and/or presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar)

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of full-time professional engineering experience
  • Large mining machine/ heavy industry experience preferred
  • Experience in the design, analysis and maintenance of mining or construction equipment preferred

Technical Skills

  • 3D CAD modelling and drafting (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
  • Strong writing and technical presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
