Claims Car Assessor
Youi Insurance
This role is for an experienced Motor Assessor or someone with trade qualifications in panel beating or spray painting who has progressed off the tools into a workshop manager, estimating or coordination role within the smash repair industry and is now ready to expand their career.
With deep repair knowledge and industry experience, you’ll take the next step into a role where you sign off on repairs, helping customers get back on the road when life hasn’t gone to plan.
You’ll inspect vehicles, scope the damage, review quotes and make the call on what’s fair and reasonable. Some days you’ll be out on the road assessing vehicles. Other times you’ll be back home reviewing estimates, writing reports and progressing claims. But compared to life in the workshop, it’s a different pace and easier on the body long term.
What You’ll Do
- Full-time hybrid role with office located in Silverwater
- Inspect damaged vehicles and validate claims
- Scope repairs and review repairer estimates
- Authorise fair, evidence-based repair outcomes
- Identify discrepancies or potential fraud indicators
- Apply policy and assess liability considerations
- Manage customer expectations professionally
- Manage your diary and turnaround times
- Work closely with service providers to ensure quality repairs
- Maintain thorough documentation and compliance standards
What You’ll Have

- Strong knowledge of repair methods, quoting and industry standards
- Confidence in making decisions and signing off repairs
- Bonus points if you’ve worked with watercraft or specialty vehicles
- Current Drivers Licence
What Great Looks Like
- Stay steady when a customer is frustrated and still explain your decision clearly
- Make calls based on evidence and policy, not pressure
- Comfortable backing your judgement, even when the answer is unpopular
- Notice details others miss and document them properly
- Follow jobs through to completion
- Prioritise safety, compliance and doing it right over doing it fast
- Repairers respect you because you are fair, consistent and clear
What You'll Get
- A maintained company car, fuel card and mobile business tool
- Performance-based incentives paid every six months, plus annual salary reviews
- The option to work a 9-day fortnight with every second Friday off plus, 22 days annual leave
- Regular team connection, recognition and events that keep you part of the bigger picture, even when you're out on the road
- Three weeks of paid training to set you up properly, followed by clear direction and regular coaching as you build confidence
- Helping customers get back on track when life doesn’t go to plan
