Strategic Accountant and Director's Advocate

NOT YOUR TYPICAL ACCOUNTING ROLE

If you're a qualified accountant who's realised tax preparation isn't where your energy goes, this might be exactly what you're looking for.

We're hiring an experienced Accountant to join the Thryvv.io team as 2IC to the Founder. This is client-facing, complex, fast-paced advisory work. No compliance checklists. No lodgement deadlines.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

You'll work across genuinely complex business problems at the intersection of accounting, strategy, and director-level decision-making:

• Corporate turnaround and recovery (~60% of work): advising distressed businesses on turnarounds and restructuring, cash flow improvement, creditor management, and lawful asset protection
• Corporate feasibility: financial modelling, deal structuring, and stakeholder management
• Business sale and Succession preparation: Helping business owners maximize exit outcomes
• Corporate governance: financial analysis, risk management, conflict navigation

Every day is different. You're solving real problems for real people facing genuine challenges.

WHO YOU ARE

You're a CA or CPA (or equivalent) who:

• Has realised tax isn't for you. You want to work on problems, not processes.
• Loves client work. You'd rather talk to a director about their business than optimise a tax return.
• Has a business owner's mindset
• Is strong with numbers but stronger with people. You can read a financial statement in seconds and explain it in plain language.
• Thrives in complexity. Finding strategic solutions in messy situations with competing interests energises you.
• Thinks commercially. You understand that business problems need business solutions.

Experience in corporate recovery, restructuring, or insolvency is a plus, although passion and mindset matters more than background.

WHAT YOU'LL BE BUILDING

Thryvv.io is carving out a new category in professional services: Director Advocacy. We represent the director, not the process. You'll be 2IC to the founder, with direct access to clients, autonomy over relationships, and a real path to partnership as the firm grows.

You'll lead a team that handles the grunt work. Your focus is on clients, strategy, and building something that matters. If you're spending too much time at the desk then you aren't doing it right.
