Senior System Engineer

One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Senior SOE Systems Engineer – EL1

1. Contract Duration: 04 Years (03 Years initially + 12 Months extension)
2. Work Location: Canberra (Hybrid – 03 Days Office / 02 Days home each week)
3. Eligibility: Must need to be Australian Citizen (Baseline or above Clearance is mandatory)
4. Tentative Start Date: 2nd Nov 2026
5. Working Hours: 7.5 hours a day/ 38 hours a week

Role Description

Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Services, delivered in collaboration with and under supervision by nominated Department personnel, include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Work together with Department business users and system administrators to improve and optimise the implementation, use and management of ICT & business solutions.
• Collaborate with Department staff to diagnose and resolve operational and technical problems.
• Actively engage with staff to leverage solution expertise and contribute positively to expanding the Department's knowledge base.
• Actively participate in software configuration planning and management.
• Actively alert Department management to any design, build, testing and quality risks, assumptions and dependencies that may be identified.
• Produce overall system design / implementation documentation and relevant procedures / policies.
• Enforce and adhere to all levels of compliance in the ICT environment.
• Provide knowledge/skills transfer to other teams

Technical skills

Technical skills candidates would need to have (including but not limited to) are listed below:

• Microsoft endpoint management and device engineering
• SOE Design, build and automation
• Identity and access management integration
• Endpoint security hardening and compliance
• Enterprise integration and modern workplace technologies
