The role

You’ll work across a mix of transport, traffic and development engineering, including:

• Preparing transport strategies, reviewing traffic studies, improving safety and efficiency of the City's transport network, managing the Traffic Safety 10 Year Plan.

• Reviewing development applications, subdivision applications, construction management plans, traffic management plans and engineering-related conditions

• Contributing to transport infrastructure planning, future asset requirements, traffic studies and strategic transport planning.

• Providing technical advice and recommendations on transport infrastructure, traffic management, parking, signage and road safety matters

• Provide cross directorate technical support in accordance with the City’s policies and relevant standards when required and undertake other activities within the limits of your skill, competency and training as advised by Coordinator Transport and Development.

• Prepare Technical Services Reports for Council consideration on public infrastructure related matters.

• Support the Transport and Development team by undertaking administrative tasks in relation to the preparation and submission of traffic and transport related grant applications through the provision, collection and revision of data to ensure maximum funding opportunities for the City.

• Respond to resident queries and complaints regarding development, traffic management, parking, signage, line-marking and associated matters, by investigating issues raised in a professional and timely manner.

• Assist the Coordinator Transport and Development in liaising with developers and planning representatives to finalise clearance of asset and engineering related development and subdivisional conditions.

About you

You’re a practical, solutions-focused engineer who enjoys variety and working with people.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• A Civil Engineering qualification (or equivalent experience) is a must

• Strong communication and stakeholder skills

• Experience in local government (preferred), transport, traffic or development engineering

• A proactive, team-oriented approach

• Experience reviewing development or subdivision applications

• Exposure to traffic management or transport planning

• Experience working with developers, contractors or community stakeholders

• Knowledge of relevant WA legislation and approvals processes
