This opportunity is ideal for a student who enjoys practical, hands‑on outdoor work and is looking to establish a long-term career in the horticulture industry. As a school-based trainee, you will gain skills across a wide range of horticultural activities, including plant care, landscape maintenance, soil and plant nutrition, weed and pest control, irrigation support, and the general upkeep of green spaces, whilst still attending school.

We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual who is physically fit, enjoys working outdoors in all conditions, and is committed to completing their qualification. Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, landscaping, or outdoor labouring is beneficial but not essential — full training will be provided as part of the traineeship.

Duties Include

  • Weed and pest control
  • Plant care
  • Record fertiliser usage.
  • General upkeep of the Gardens
  • Check that irrigation is working properly.
  • Lawn mowing & Whipper Snippering
  • Assisting in landscape maintenance across the Gardens
  • Able to work in a team and independently
  • Daily tasks to be completed as directed by Supervisor
  • Interested in practical and mechanical work
  • Able to undertake manual work
  • Must be punctual, polite and reliable at all times
  • Able to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
  • Possess a genuine interest and desire to learn on the job
  • Highly organised, with great attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
