  • Permanent Role | Full time
  • Sydney CBD Location

Compare Club helps Australians make clearer decisions about their everyday financial needs. We use automation, data and personalisation to deliver timely, relevant customer experiences — and we’re looking for a technically minded Marketing Automation & Data Specialist to help power that behind the scenes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across SQL, HTML/CSS/JS, APIs, Liquid, customer data and customer engagement platforms. You’ll be the person who ensures our customer journeys run smoothly, accurately and consistently across systems and channels.

What You’ll Do

  • Support customer journeys by validating data signals, journey logic, personalisation rules and fallback behaviour.
  • Help teams understand what customer data is available and how it can be used safely and effectively.
  • Build and maintain technical components such as in‑app messages, interactive prompts, feedback forms and personalised content blocks.
  • Use SQL to check audiences, exclusions, payloads, events and key journey fields.
  • Troubleshoot data, APIs and system logic when journeys don’t behave as expected.
  • QA journeys across triggers, timing, rules, suppression, links, tracking and personalisation.
  • Support reporting inputs, tagging logic and data quality checks that help teams understand performance.
  • Maintain clear documentation of journey logic, data fields, event usage, payload examples and known issues.

What You Bring

  • 2–4 years in automation, CRM, customer engagement, data support or technical CX roles.
  • Confident with SQL for querying, validation and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experience with APIs, webhooks or data sync processes.
  • Experience with platforms like Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Iterable, Klaviyo or similar.
  • Strong QA discipline and attention to detail, especially around logic, data and edge cases.
  • Understanding of customer journeys, personalisation, consent and suppression rules.

Bonus Points: Braze, Hightouch, Snowflake, Intercom, Twilio, CDPs, reverse ETL tools, interactive content experience, Tableau/Looker/Power BI.

Who You Are

  • Curious, practical and eager to understand how systems and data shape customer experiences.
  • Logical problem solver with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently and explaining technical issues clearly to non‑technical teams.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated and customer‑first in how you think about automation and data.
