About The Role
Join AEMO’s WA Future System Engineering team and play a key role in supporting the transition of the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) to a secure, reliable, affordable and sustainable energy future. Working on strategic engineering initiatives and the delivery of AEMO’s SWIS Engineering Roadmap, you’ll contribute to solving complex technical challenges, driving industry collaboration, and helping ensure the future resilience of WA’s electricity and gas sectors.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead engineering studies and technical analysis that support Western Australia’s energy transition and future power system needs.
- Provide practical, solutions-focused engineering advice, balancing technical excellence with operational and delivery considerations.
- Contribute to long-term strategies that address emerging power system challenges, risks and capability requirements.
- Represent AEMO’s technical expertise to industry, government and market stakeholders, translating complex concepts into clear, impactful insights.
- Manage competing priorities, build strong stakeholder relationships, and communicate outcomes effectively to drive collaboration and results.
What You Will Bring To The Role
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering (power systems preferred), with experience in the electricity industry or a strong academic foundation.
- Passionate about the energy transition and keen to contribute to the future of Western Australia’s energy system.
- Strong understanding of power systems, including generation technologies, network equipment and system performance characteristics.
- Experience using power system modelling and analysis tools such as PSSE, PowerFactory or PSCAD for load flow and fault level studies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging insights for a range of stakeholders.
