The Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the modernisation and enhancement of Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities that play a critical role in protecting Australia's national interests. Working within a high-performing Defence environment, you'll help design, develop and sustain innovative software solutions that support complex operational systems. This is an opportunity to work on meaningful projects, collaborate with technical specialists, and contribute to capabilities that have a direct impact on Defence outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain software solutions for scientific and engineering applications.
- Analyse user and system requirements and translate them into practical software designs.
- Contribute across the full software lifecycle, including front-end, back-end, database and system integration activities.
- Work within Agile teams using tools such as Jira, Confluence and Git/Bitbucket to deliver outcomes.
- Support software quality assurance, troubleshooting, performance improvements and documentation activities.
About You
- Degree qualified in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in software development, modernisation or complex
- technical environments.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, Java or JavaScript, with
- full-stack development experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
- Current NV1 security clearance required, with the ability and willingness to uplift to NV2(current NV2 will be highly regarded).
Additional Information
- Defence or Electronic Warfare experience will be highly regarded. This role is based on Commonwealth premises at Edinburgh, South Australia.
- Applicants may require access to US export-controlled materiel and will be required
- to complete relevant eligibility assessments.
- Candidates must not have worked full-time for Defence as an APS employee or ADF
- member within the 12 months prior to engagement as an Above-the-Line contractor.
- Flexible work arrangements may be available subject to Commonwealth approval.
