We are seeking a suitable leader to support and drive our northern Asphalt & Sealing operations that can both maintain existing trusted customer relationships and to build our future base to sustain repeat work. This will not be at the expense of either quality or safety as our brand is our reputation.

Crossroads is a division of Hazell Bros. This position is located in the Asphalt & Sealing team of Crossroads.

The ROLE

  • Establish project budgets and cost controls
  • Manages variations and claims
  • Leads and develops direct reports with clear expectations and supports development of whole team to be multi-disciplinary
  • Undertakes workforce and resource planning to meet peaks and reduce downtime
  • Acts as the seniour operational point of contact for clients building trust through transparency, responsiveness and predictable delivery
  • Coordinates and drives tendering function with input from the Surfacing Manager and other relevant stakeholders
  • Oversees the Quality Management System (QMS) execution
  • Ensures plant and equipment readiness through maintenance scheduling alignment, pre-start inspeaction discipline and defect rectification prioritisation
  • Manages performance and conduct matters in line with policy, including addressing behaviours that compromise safety, quality or culture
  • Ensures our jobs are safe and compliant and completed to a high standard

About YOU

  • Bachelor degree in either Civil Engineering or equivalent demonstrated industry experience at a senior operational level
  • 7+ years' experience in asphalt, spray sealing, pavements, surfacing with at least 3 years in a senior leadership capacity
  • Strong experience in end-to-end project delivery across multiple concurrent jobs
  • Demonstrated ability to drive safety leadership in high-risk, mobile plant environments
  • Practical knowledge of regulatory governance, legislative requirements, codes of practice and compliance requirement
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to effectively work with customers, colleagues and management
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Project

  • Although the role is being advertised in multiple states the role is located in Launceston, Tasmania
  • If you are living outside of Tasmania and are the successful candidate we will contribute towards your relocation
  • There is either a Company vehicle (full private usage in Tasmania) or equivalent vehicle allowance - both with fuel card
