What's the role?
The Chief of Staff for the Medium Rare Group will play a pivotal role in providing senior support to the Managing Director, Medium Rare Group and the broader leadership team across Medium Rare, Storyation & Visual Domain. The role is a parental leave cover for 10 months.
The role reports to the Managing Director, Medium Rare and acts as a true 2IC, helping manage priorities, coordinate and advise the leadership team along with providing strategic and operational oversight across the business.
In this pivotal role, you will provide senior operational and strategic oversight for the Medium Rare Group within News Corp, spanning our three agencies: Medium Rare, Visual Domain and Storyation. As the engine room of our executive function, you will keep key business priorities moving, sharpen senior decision-making and drive cross-functional project delivery. This is a rare opportunity to lead with genuine influence, manage a direct-report team of six and act as a critical strategic bridge to our stakeholders across the broader News Corp network.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Advisory & Project Delivery (30%): Sponsor and lead cross-functional programs from initiation to completion—ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget, and with seamless change management. You'll also review and sharpen the commercial components of new business pitches.
- Managing Director Support & Executive Effectiveness (25%): Act as a trusted 2IC to the MD. Partner closely with the EA to manage leadership actions, triage critical business matters, and synthesise complex issues into clear, actionable executive recommendations.
- Communications, Operating Cadence & Integration (20%): Draft high-impact leadership communications, manage the business's regular operating forums, and lead growth strategy days. You will also serve as the primary follow-through point for agency integration matters with News Corp.
- Legal, Compliance & Risk Management (15%): Act as the central point of contact for legal, HR, and compliance matters. You'll liaise on privacy policies, client contracts, and company terms with a sharp eye for commercial and operational implications.
- Vendor Management & Business Support (10%): Oversee selected agency-level third-party relationships (including IVE Group and software vendors) and undertake initial stage-1 recruitment activity on behalf of the MD to keep hiring momentum strong.

- An Exceptional Communicator: You can synthesize complex information into clear, professional messaging—both in writing for leadership communications and verbally across diverse teams.
- A Calm, Solutions-Focused Mindset: You manage workload volatility with ease and bring a discreet, adaptable, and emotionally intelligent approach to sensitive business matters.
- An Organized Executioner: You excel at tracking dependencies, managing risk early, and driving projects over the finish line. Experience managing small administrative or operational teams is highly regarded.
