About The Role

City of Ballarat has an exciting career opportunity to become part of the Lake Wendouree, Victoria Park Team.

The position of Groundsperson Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park is responsible for the maintenance of the surrounding reserves, waterways and gardens of the Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park Precincts. As a team member you assist in the maintenance of Ballarat’s most utilised passive and active recreational precinct.

About You

We are seeking a team member has

  • Have practical experience in horticulture and the maintenance of parks and waterways, native flora and fauna, and open spaces.
  • Hold a valid driver's licence and be confident operating plant and equipment.
  • Be a reliable and motivated team player, able to work independently when required.
  • Understand and follow workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Be committed to maintaining safe, welcoming, and well-kept community spaces.
  • Hold a valid boat licence and be confident operating plant and equipment on water.

We Are Seeking Someone With

  • Demonstrated relevant work experience in a similar parks maintenance role.
  • Experience in parks and waterway maintenance.
  • Mechanical plant operation skills required in horticultural maintenance - including mowers, brush cutters, and related hand tools.
  • Commitment to effective management of health and safety issues especially relevant to this role.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • Boat Licence with the ability to gain Marine Exemption 38 Low Complexity Duties (Coxswain Grade 2)
  • Demonstrated experience in collection of waters sampling.
