IT Infrastructure Engineer - Cairns
MAF International
IT Infrastructure Engineer
Build the Technology That Keeps Our Global Mission Connected
Every mission flight begins long before an aircraft leaves the ground.
Behind every remote airstrip, emergency medical evacuation, and mission team serving in isolated communities is a secure, reliable technology network making it all possible.
At Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), we're looking for an experienced
IT Infrastructure Engineer to help design, support, and strengthen the technology that keeps our global ministry connected. If you're passionate about networking, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and building resilient systems that make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
Who Are We?
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) has been bringing help, hope, and healing to isolated communities for more than
80 years. Operating more than
116 aircraft across 30+ countries, we use aviation and technology to overcome barriers that prevent people accessing healthcare, education, disaster relief, and the Gospel.
While our aircraft reach some of the world's most remote places, it's our global technology infrastructure that keeps our people connected, our operations secure, and our mission moving.
Location
Office Based Role - Cairns, Australia.
- NOTE Applicants must have the current, legal right to work in the Australia. Acceptance of and adherence to MAF’s purpose, vision and values is an essential condition of employment. Criminal History check will also be completed as part of the process**
What You'll Be Doing
As our IT Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be the technical expert behind the systems that keep MAF connected across the globe.
Working alongside our international IT team, you'll design, support, and continually improve the infrastructure that enables our staff, aircraft, and programmes to operate safely and effectively in some of the world's most remote locations.
You'll be involved in
- Designing, implementing, and supporting MAF's global infrastructure, networking, cloud, and communications environments.
- Managing and optimising networking, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, VoIP telephony, and secure connectivity across multiple countries.
- Supporting Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, virtualisation platforms, Windows Server, Linux, and cloud infrastructure.
- Championing infrastructure security, resilience, disaster recovery, and continual improvement.
- Leading infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle planning, and technology projects that strengthen our global operations.
- Acting as the technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues while mentoring and supporting colleagues across the IT team.
- Helping shape MAF's future technology strategy by evaluating emerging technologies and driving innovation.
But this role is about far more than designing networks and managing servers. Every secure connection you build helps keep mission teams connected. Every resilient system you maintain supports pilots flying safely into isolated communities. Every improvement you make helps ensure healthcare, education, disaster relief, and the Gospel continue reaching places few others can.
The infrastructure you build becomes the foundation that enables MAF's mission around the world.
When you join MAF, you won't just become part of an IT team. You'll become part of a global mission. You'll work alongside talented colleagues across multiple countries who value collaboration, innovation, knowledge sharing, and serving one another well. We invest in our people, encourage professional development, and create opportunities to contribute to meaningful projects with global impact. As part of our One Team, One Mission culture, you'll help build and maintain the technology that enables our aircraft to fly, our teams to stay connected, and our programmes to serve some of the world's most isolated communities.
One Team. One Mission. Endless Impact.
Applications close Sunday, 16th August 2026, with the successful candidate expected to commence in October 2026.
