Help Launch an Exciting New Community Initiative

Launceston Independent Food Enterprise (LIFE) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Operations Manager to help establish and lead the LIFE Food Hub, a new social supermarket designed to improve food security, community wellbeing and social connection across Northern Tasmania.

This is a unique opportunity to join a start-up charity and play a key role in bringing an innovative social enterprise to life. Working closely with the Project Lead, Board and Steering Committee, you will help shape the systems, partnerships and operations that will underpin the successful launch of the LIFE Food Hub.

What You'll Be Doing

As Operations Manager, you will:

Coordinate the planning and implementation of the LIFE Food Hub pilot project

Develop policies, procedures and operational systems

Engage with community members, stakeholders, donors and partners

Manage website and social media communications

Support grant applications, reporting and funding compliance

Assist with food sourcing, procurement and supplier relationships

Recruit, support and coordinate volunteers

Monitor outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement and impact evaluation

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience in a similar operations, project management or community services role
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience developing and implementing systems, policies and procedures
  • Project or Team leadership experience, ideally involving volunteers
  • Confidence using digital platforms, websites and social media
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People registration, Working with Children Check and Police Check (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience in social enterprise, food security or community development projects will be highly regarded
