City of Newcastle (CN) is currently seeking Beach Lifeguards for the upcoming summer season. As a Beach Lifeguard you’ll supervise and manage Newcastle’s beaches and ocean baths, ensuring the safety and well-being of all beach and baths users through active supervision, providing water safety awareness, and the implementation of effective beach management strategies, including providing emergency care to create a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for everyone.
The 2026-27 summer season commences 28 September 2026.

To be successful in this role, you will require the following:
- SLSA Bronze Medallion
- HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Demonstrated competency in the following: (these will be assessed during a formal assessment period)
- 800 metre pool swim in no more than 14 minutes (pool not less than 25 metres in length)
- Ability to complete the "Lifeguard Mission" (an "M" shape course). This includes:
- 600m ocean swim,
- 800m beach run,
- 600m paddle on a rescue board (including negotiation of the surf break), and
- 800m beach run
- Ability to perform a rescue with a rescue tube and board.
- Working with Children Check
- Drivers Licence
