Fairhaven Homes
Help Shape the Homes Thousands of Victorians Will Build.
This is an exciting time to join Fairhaven Homes. We're investing heavily in the future of our product range, with an exciting pipeline of new home designs and display homes currently in development. To help bring that vision to life, we're looking for an experienced Product Development Draftsperson to join our team at our Mulgrave Head Office.
This role is initially offered as a 6-month contract, created to support a significant pipeline of product development work. For the right person, there's every opportunity for the role to be extended—or even become a permanent position—as our business continues to grow.
If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in producing quality work and wants to contribute to homes that will be built across Victoria for years to come, we'd love to hear from you.
At Fairhaven Homes, we've set out to prove that premium quality and affordability don't have to be opposites. As a family-owned Victorian builder with a fifth-generation bricklayer at our roots, Built with Care isn't just our tagline—it's how we approach every drawing, every design decision and every home we create.
About the Role
As part of our Product Development team, you'll play a key role in developing and maintaining the master working drawings that underpin our entire product range. Your work won't just support individual projects—it will influence homes built across multiple regions of Victoria.
Working closely with Product Development, Estimating, Construction, Interior Design and Sales, you'll help ensure our designs are practical, buildable, compliant and continually evolving to meet the needs of today's homeowners.
No two days are quite the same, and you'll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, improve processes and genuinely influence the products we deliver to market.
In this role you'll
- Produce and maintain accurate master working drawings for our home designs.
- Design and detail customised solutions for upcoming display homes.
- Liaise with Engineering Consultants, Energy Raters and Building Surveyors to coordinate documentation.
- Ensure compliance with planning requirements, developer guidelines and RESCODE.
- Work collaboratively with Construction, Estimating, Sales and Interior Design to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to improve drafting processes and documentation standards.
- Provide technical drafting support across the wider business.
- Contribute to exciting new product releases that will shape Fairhaven's future.
About You
You're passionate about residential design and take genuine pride in producing accurate, high-quality documentation.
You'll ideally bring:
- Diploma of Building Design
- Proven experience in residential drafting, ideally within a volume building environment.
- Strong AutoCAD experience.
- A sound understanding of residential construction methods and detailing.
- The ability to confidently interpret architectural drawings, engineering documentation, soil reports and specifications.
- Knowledge of RESCODE, planning overlays and developer requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right the first time.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to improve systems, processes and products.
Why Fairhaven?
At Fairhaven, you'll join a business that's proud of where we've come from—and excited about where we're heading.
Here's what you can expect
- Work on an exciting pipeline of new home designs and display homes.
- Help shape products that will be built by thousands of Victorian families.
- Be part of a collaborative Product Development team that values ideas and continuous improvement.
- Modern Head Office based in Mulgrave with onsite parking.
- Supportive leadership that genuinely invests in your success.
- Opportunity to broaden your skills across multiple areas of residential construction and design.
- A family-owned business where quality, teamwork and integrity aren't just words—they're how we work every day.
