What Will You Be Doing

The Senior Manager of Technology Operations leads AUSIEX’s operational technology environment, with end-to-end accountability for the stability, resilience, and performance of platforms underpinning our trading and investment services.

This role combines strong operational ownership with a mandate to modernise IT Operations, driving service reliability, scalable automation, and operational readiness across all systems. It plays a critical role in aligning outcomes with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations in a high-availability environment.

Operational Leadership & Accountability

  • Own end-to-end accountability for production environments, including availability, performance, stability, and operational readiness
  • Lead integrated capabilities across Production Support, Platform Engineering, Service Delivery & Service Desk, and End User Computing.
  • Drive a proactive operating model focused on continuous improvement, early risk identification, and prevention rather than reactive resolution
  • Ensure 24x7 operational coverage models are effective, scalable, and aligned to business needs
  • Establish clear service ownership, SLAs, and operational accountability across all systems

Service Reliability

  • Drive measurable improvements in system reliability, resilience, and recoverability, including major incident, problem, and crisis management.
  • Embed a metrics-driven culture, including SLAs, SLOs, MTTR, and service performance insights
  • Uplift monitoring, alerting, and observability practices across the environment
  • Ensure robust BCP and DR capabilities, regularly tested and aligned to business expectations
  • Lead root cause analysis and proactive, continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate recurring issues and improve long-term service stability

Platform Enablement

  • Lead the transformation of System Administration to Platform Engineering to ensure environments are fit-for-purpose, scalable, and well-managed
  • Support transition toward cloud-based and modern platform architectures
  • Ensure strong operational readiness for new system releases and changes

Service Delivery & End User Experience

  • Lead IT service delivery, ensuring consistent, high-quality and cost effective support across the business
  • Improve end-user experience and productivity, particularly across corporate and trading staff
  • Establish regular service review cadences with business stakeholders, incorporating feedback to continuously improve service quality and user experience
  • Drive continuous maturity uplift in service management practices (ITIL-based but outcome-focused)
  • Rationalise and improve current L1/L2 support models, including offshore vendor performance

Offshore Delivery Management

  • Own key vendor relationships across offshore support and service delivery partners
  • Ensure vendor performance is aligned to service outcomes, SLAs, and cost expectations
  • Optimise the operating model across onshore/offshore capability and coverage

Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure Technology Operations aligns with risk, audit, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate operational risks across production environments
  • Implement strong governance and reporting frameworks for operational performance, including clear, concise monthly reporting to executives and key stakeholders

Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multi-disciplinary team across AU and offshore locations
  • Build a culture of accountability, proactive continuous improvement, and operational excellence
  • Uplift capability across Production Support, Platform Engineering, and Service Delivery functions

To succeed in this role, you will bring strong leadership across Technology Operations and production environments, with a track record of delivering reliable, scalable, and high-performing technology services in complex, regulated organisations. You are a pragmatic and commercially minded operator who combines strong operational accountability with a focus on continuous improvement and transformation.

You will be comfortable leading multi-disciplinary, globally distributed teams, building strong, trusted relationships with technology and business stakeholders to ensure operational outcomes are aligned to business priorities, service performance expectations, and regulatory requirements

Required Experience And Capabilities

  • Typically, 15+ years’ experience, including significant leadership of production or IT Operations functions
  • Proven experience leading IT Operations or Production environments in complex, regulated organisations
  • Proven ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders, with strong communication and engagement skills across business, technology, and risk functions
  • Demonstrated ownership of mission-critical systems with high availability requirements
  • Production support
  • Infrastructure / platform operations
  • Service delivery and service desk models
  • Experience managing distributed teams across onshore and offshore environments
  • Strong understanding of modern operational practices (automation, monitoring, DevOps alignment)
  • Experience working in cloud and hybrid environments
  • Proven ability to drive operational uplift and transformation initiatives

Preferred Attributes

  • Financial services or trading platform experience
  • Experience supporting high-volume, real-time transaction systems
  • Exposure to microservices-based platforms and integration environments
