About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a straight Year 6 class of around 24-25 students, within a supportive team structure. You will work closely with a colleague in a team-based PLC to deliver engaging, well-planned lessons that foster strong relationships and positive behaviour. Your contribution will help support a mainstream classroom and contribute to the broader community engagement efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons to Year 6 students
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships to support student well-being
  • Implement effective behaviour and classroom management strategies
  • Collaborate with colleagues in team planning and curriculum development
  • Contribute to school community initiatives and wraparound programs
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of a culturally diverse student cohort

You Will Have

  • Tertiary qualifications in Education
  • Current or pending VIT registration
  • Proven experience working with upper primary students
  • Strong relationship-building skills, empathy and trust-building ability
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills
  • Experience or familiarity with diverse community contexts is desirable
