As a Water Planning & Delivery Officer North, you will play a pivotal role to drive the planning and delivery of water operations that support customers, communities and the environment. You'll develop seasonal operating strategies, assess water resource availability, provide trusted advice and reporting to stakeholders, and ensure safe, efficient and sustainable water management. Location: Tamworth (preferred), but open to considering having the successful candidate to be based in any regional offices in Northern NSW where we have an office. For example: Dubbo, Goondiwindi, Narrabri.

What you’ll do
- Implement daily system operations, to meet customer needs and business performance indicators in terms of both quantity and quality in line with requirements of Works Approvals, Water Sharing Plans, supply agreements and other regulatory obligations in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Operate or direct the operation of water infrastructure in line with operating protocols to maximise the efficient and continuous delivery of water to customers including during droughts.
- Operate or direct the operations of water infrastructure during significant inflow events (including floods and water quality) in line with approved operating protocols to minimise risk to assets and the downstream environment.
- Deliver assigned projects including water portfolio responsibilities in a way that is consistent with regulatory requirements that add value to customers and stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge as directed of supply system operation plans and protocols to ensure the coordinated water delivery service meets water quality and quantity needs of customers, stakeholders and regulators.
What we are looking for
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related field, or equivalent level of operational experience, with intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills.
- Demonstrated ability to implement practical strategies, policies, procedures and tools for water delivery, flood and water quality emergency management.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, customers and regulators.
- Proven experience in working within a team environment to achieve corporate and business unit objectives and improve operational performance.
- Experienced communicator, negotiator, problem solver and networker.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and able to work on weekend roster / overnight shifts as required
- Nice to Have: Experience with the use of hydrological and/or hydraulic models.
