About the role

Our client, a well-established, multi-disciplinary digital agency, is looking for a Head of Digital Marketing to lead the strategy, capability and commercial performance of their digital marketing division. The successful candidate will own client success, delivery quality and team performance, acting as senior strategic advisor to the agency's biggest accounts.

This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for building a systemised, scalable and AI-enabled operation that connects strategy and delivery, while developing and retaining a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy, capability and buildout of the agency's digital marketing offering
  • Lead the evolution of services, including CRM-led capability, journey marketing, GEO and modern cross-channel measurement
  • Drive AI adoption across the offering, both as operational leverage and as a driver of new service lines
  • Ensure a cohesive client experience across the wider agency's strategy, UX, development and performance capabilities
  • Standardise, automate and simplify delivery across new and existing products and services
  • Oversee delivery resourcing, including client allocation and utilisation management
  • Own the blended delivery model, including managing an offshore delivery partnership as internal capacity moves up the value chain
  • Act as senior strategic advisor for large, strategic accounts
  • Work closely with delivery teams and Account Directors on aligned execution of client strategy
  • Act as the senior escalation point for delivery issues
  • Strengthen client retention and satisfaction through consistent delivery and outcomes
  • Lead, manage and mentor the digital marketing team
  • Set clear performance expectations and accountability for delivery standards
  • Identify capability gaps and build upskilling pathways, with a development plan for every team member
  • Own team retention, engagement and wellbeing
  • Own commercial performance of the division: revenue, margin, utilisation and forecasting
  • Own client retention, renewals and rate reviews, driving organic growth
  • Shape and respond to tenders and proposals, providing delivery insight and estimates
  • Ensure new services are commercially and operationally ready to sell and deliver

Someone who's led a digital marketing team at scale, is genuinely commercial (comfortable owning P&L, not just delivery), and wants to build systems and capability rather than just manage day-to-day output.
