Environmental Scientist / Engineer, 2–4 years’ experience. Contaminated Land and Environmental Management Consultancy, Geelong Office.

  • Growing Victorian contaminated land and groundwater consultancy.
  • Tight-knit, family-oriented team with a supportive and inclusive culture.
  • Real career path, potential to grow with the business and share in its success through profit sharing, bonuses and business development rewards.
  • Geelong / Surf Coast lifestyle.

Terralis is a privately owned environmental consultancy working throughout Victoria and based out of its Geelong head office. We specialise in contaminated land and groundwater investigations, assessment and remediation projects, due diligence research, environmental management / planning and landfill reporting services.

This is a rare opportunity to join an engaged and professional team of respected environmental scientists and engineers, living and working in the beautiful coastal / urban Geelong – Surf Coast region.

We are seeking an Environmental Scientist or Engineer with 2–4 years of relevant industry experience in a Victorian context, to get involved with all aspects of our projects — from project / client management and the preparation of proposals and tenders, through to conducting and managing field programs, data analysis and contributing to the preparation of high-quality reports for our clients.

For the right candidate, this is more than a job. As we grow, there is genuine potential to grow with the business and be rewarded for it through profit sharing, bonuses and business development incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and support a range of projects, ensuring your clients’ and Project Director’s needs are met, in compliance with Terralis’s quality, health, safety and environmental management systems (the Integrated Management System).
  • Design investigation scopes of work for low to medium complexity projects with limited supervision. This includes the preparation, planning and delivery of scientific and engineering fieldwork with limited supervision — including the preparation of health and safety plans, the coordination of equipment and the management of subcontractors as required.
  • Supervised contribution to the planning, project management and delivery of large and complex projects.
  • Undertake fieldwork, including site inspections and environmental sampling of soil, water, ground gas and groundwater, as well as assisting with a variety of other environmental projects as required.
  • Deliver high-quality reports with accurate and well-written technical material that requires limited review, including:
  • Undertaking research on relevant legislation and collecting data to inform decision-making and strategies.
  • Desktop research and delivery of Preliminary Site Investigations.
  • Analysis, interpretation of data and delivery of Detailed Site Investigations.
  • Prepare moderate-complexity fee proposals to win work and contribute to the growth and profitability of the company. Support the technical lead on larger and more complex projects and proposals.
  • Confident communication and liaison with Project Directors and clients on your projects, to foster relationships and win business.

About you

Successful applicants will have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental or geological science or engineering.
  • Experience in environmental consulting and project management. You should understand current Victorian legislation and have demonstrated experience managing projects to completion, within budget and to a high standard.
  • A proven track record of contributing high-quality work, including strong report-writing skills and high computer literacy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with your team and your clients.
  • A current Australian driver’s licence.
  • The entitlement to work in Australia as an Australian Permanent Resident or Citizen.
  • Availability for a start within 1 to 4 weeks.

What we offer

• A safe, fair, supportive and flexible workplace committed to inclusion and diversity.

• A relaxed, friendly workplace of professionals who share our environmental and social values.

• Competitive salary packages and a range of additional benefits.

• Real potential for the right candidate to grow with the business and enjoy profit sharing, bonuses and business development rewards.
