Walcha Council is seeking a Senior Roads Manager for a newly reshaped strategic role. You will set the strategic direction, resourcing, and planning for the roads function, directing up to $30 million in disaster recovery funding and coordinating major renewable energy infrastructure upgrades.

What you'll be doing
- Lead and support around 30 roads staff through coordinators and admin support.
- Coordinate the sequencing of Renewable Energy Zone works and disaster recovery roadworks.
- Establish an asset management practice for the road network and quarries.
- Represent the Council's roads program to Councillors, community members, and external stakeholders.
- Provide clear, confident reasoning on technical and budget decisions in public forums.
Who this role suits
- Requires 10+ years' experience in roads or infrastructure.
- Relevant tertiary qualification, Class C licence, and current White Card.
- Strong people and team management skills with sound strategic judgement.
- Politically savvy and comfortable fielding tough questions in public.
- Engineering and/or asset management experience, with a feel for local government (highly regarded).
