About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced security professional to manage the day-to-day operation and security of AUSTRAC's Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). As an APS6 Communications Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO), you will work closely with AUSTRAC, the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) and other national security partners to ensure the secure management of classified information, facilities and operations.

This is a rare opportunity to apply your expertise in a highly classified environment while contributing to outcomes that help combat serious and organised crime, money laundering and terrorism financing.

Key duties include

  • Manage and maintain the security, accreditation and day-to-day operation of AUSTRAC’s Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
  • Protect highly classified information through the implementation of effective security controls and compliance activities.
  • Provide expert advice on security policies, procedures and best practice to support organisational security outcomes.
  • Deliver security briefings, training and access management services for authorised personnel.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and contribute to AUSTRAC’s broader protective security and resilience functions.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly motivated security professional who can operate confidently in a highly classified environment to ensure high standards of security, integrity and compliance.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience as a Communications Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO).
  • Qualifications, knowledge or demonstrated experience in security risk management or a related security discipline.

Eligibility

  • Must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.
  • Will need to undertake AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement checks.
  • Will need to obtain and maintain an ongoing Positive Vetting (PV) or Top Secret–Privileged Access (TS-PA) Security Clearance

This recruitment process will initially be used to fill a current vacancy and in future, may be used to fill similar positions in the event positions become vacant. The merit pools established from this recruitment process will be valid for 18 months from the date of advertising.
