Senior Legal Counsel 2-Month Contract - Canberra or Sydney

Beacon Legal have partnered with a well-established Australian financial services organisation in their search for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join the team on an initial 2-month contract.

The role can be based in Sydney or Canberra, with flexibility around location for the right candidate.

We are seeking a proactive and autonomous lawyer to support a collaborative in-house legal team during a busy period. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior lawyer with a background in financial services, regulatory, compliance or disputes who enjoys stepping in quickly and providing advice across a broad range of legal issues.

About the Role

  • Provide legal advice across a broad range of regulatory, compliance and advisory matters related to superannuation.
  • Support the business on non-litigious disputes and dispute resolution matters.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders to provide practical, risk-based legal advice.
  • Assist with regulatory obligations, governance and legal risk management.
  • Work collaboratively with an experienced in-house legal team to manage business-critical matters.
  • Provide senior-level support during a period of increased workload.

What type of person will be successful?

  • Significant post-qualification experience (10+) gained in-house and/or within a leading private practice.
  • Experience advising on regulatory, compliance, financial services or disputes matters, ideally within superannuation.
  • Comfortable working autonomously.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Available to commence at short notice for an initial 2-month engagement.
